Theatre-Making & Acting

Theatre-Making & Acting

The air smells like rain and you’ve started to forget about me.

On an infinite grid of squares lives Langton’s ant, an artificial cell. A two-dimensional unrelenting force of nature; a veteran of the digital world. He’s got to cross the highway before the rain begins.

In INTERNET OF THINGS, performers initiate an infinite march towards human / tech symbiosis. This new dance-theatre work questions the sustainable integration of artificial intelligence in a rapidly deteriorating world.

With code and visual design by Seamus Graham, performers Hazel Pigrum and Amelia Milly Watson invoke organic connection and embodied protest through visceral movement and speech.

This project has been generously supported by La Mama Theatre and the University of Melbourne.

INTERNET OF THINGS

But perhaps the enthusiastic sensibility of young women of her age played a role. This feeling sought release at every opportunity.

Inspired by Franz Kafka’s seminal novella, Short Straw Theatre is developing a new interdisciplinary work surveying gender and exploitation.

A first-stage creative development explored shadow work, projection, text and movement improvisation. Further developments seek to combine these physical theatre elements with orchestral composition.

This project has been generously supported by Union House Theatre.
